Puzzle Description

I Love Weekend - by Mike Jupp

1000 Piece Puzzles - 68cms x 49 cms

Box Dimensions - 41 cms x 29 cms x 5 cms

Even by the standards of a Mike Jupp jigsaw puzzle, I Love the Weekend (G787), is an extreme example of the chaos and mayhem Mike brings to bear to a jigsaw puzzle that measures a mere 68 x 49 centimeters. Obviously Mike's original illustration will be significantly larger in order to encompass the total anarchic activity you see before you. The trick is in knowing the relationship between Mike's original painting and how small the final puzzle can be in order to clearly see the sometimes minuscule details Mike likes to delight us with. I suspect Mike uses a scientific method such as a grid and can see exactly how the various components fit into the puzzle. As you can see from other of Mike's puzzles he often presents us with a a more 3D view such as in I Love Gardening or I Love Christmas.

In I Love the weekend we are in a strictly urban setting somewhere in the vicinity of the London canal system. London has a vest network of canals that are still widely used today. Although most commercial merchandise travels by lorry (truck) the canals have become the liquid real estate to barges that act as homes to those that like to travel every two weeks. The canal operator, The Canal and River Trust, oversees a huge canal network that is throughout London and runs as far north as Birmingham. One of the obligations of a barge owner who lives in the barge is that, for the most part, he or she moves every two weeks to a new mooring. For those that work in London that is not as bad as it might appear as London also has a gigantic underground and overground rail system. Even if you find yourself moored in a remote location there will usually be public transport fairly near at hand.

In this jigsaw puzzle there is no end the the carnage during what is supposed to be a relaxing weekend enjoying outdoor activities. There are mountaineers climbing chimney stacks and there's a brawl breaking out between a group attempting to play cricket on the same turf as a squad of baseball players. Orcas are heaving in the same waters as barges and power motor boats and even the sky above is jammed with balloons, small aircraft and even flying frozen turkeys that missed their stop.

I Love the Weekend is made fom 100% recycled premiun puzzle board and can be made multiple times without losing that pristine puzzle quality.
