Just in case you were getting bored of unusual puzzles along comes the master of crazy, intricate and charming puzzles - Mike Jupp to clear the decks. This latest offering from Mike in the Gibsons jigsaw puzzle catalogue is called I Love Summer (G7038) and has 1000 pieces. Mike's complete range of I Love puzzles has been in the Gibsons catalogue for over a decade and continues as strong as ever. There are now twelve I Love puzzles in the Gibsons catalogue. This new seasonal puzzle has the gang of Brits enjoying a summer's day at the seaside. Given the sudden changes in British weather it's no surprise the crowds instantly appear in a mood of overwhelming excitement just in case the weather turns rainy which is always a strong possibility. If any skeptics out there don't believe the weather can change in as instant, cast a glance at the extremely distant horizon in the very top and centre of the jigsaw. Doesn't that look strikingly like a tornado? Now Britain doesn't usually suffer from tornadoes but given Mike's mischievous imagery it wouldn't be entirely surprising to add another element of chaos to this already chaotic assembly.

It is a standard feature of Mike's puzzles to not only encompass behaviour and characters that are completely over the top but that also manage to make us smile due to Mike's ability to make them appear silly yet vulnerable and charmingly British. At the same time the beachgoers are quite oblivious to the domestic foibles they display.

In any event what would a British seaside holiday be without severe overcrowding, colourful characters getting into all sorts of situations, ice cream vans, Jet skis, politically incorrect behaviour and commercial fishing boats all squashed into an impossibly small stretch of seaside real estate? Mike Jupp in this latest I Love puzzle in the Gibsons catalogue contains not only what appears to be a thousand people but its their interactions that really are noteworthy. It's probably only the puzzler who assembles this puzzle that will get the benefit of the truly microscopic detail Mike invests into his jigsaw puzzle images. For instance, in the right centre of the puzzle , in front of the yellow pub, a surprised woman loses her candy floss mountain to a gust of sea wind. The man standing next to her (her husband?) gets the entire experience of candy floss right in his face. The facial expressions and gestural detail tell the whole story - an absolute delight. Mike brought us I Love Spring and we can't wait for his next offering in the Gibsons jigsaw puzzle catalogue with its overabundance of bright colours, multitude of zany characters and mind numbing and hilarious situations.
