Puzzle Description

Gardener's Delight (G3548) is a 500XL piece puzzle by Tony Ryan. It measures 68 x 49 cms when complete and is made of 100% recycled premium jigsaw puzzle board. It can be made over and over again without any loss of quality.

Tony has several puzzles in the catalogue that are equally colourful such as Beads and Buttons and that all focus on activities that are perennial favourites. In Gardener's Delight we are treated to an especially vibrant array of colour that can be seen in in any English garden throughout the spring and early summer. The UK's temperate climate is the reason for such a wonderfully brilliant display of plants and and a huge variety of trees. Of course many of the flowers you see in those damp isles originated elsewhere, in fact most flowers actually originated in China.

If you visit Kew Gardens in the Richmond area in late April and early May you will witness a sight that is both spectacular and fleeting: the rhododendron displays. The rhododendron is a species of plant that originated in the Himalayas and is most often seen in full bloom in November in Katmandu. The colours encompass the gamut of reds and yellows, violet and orange. The bushes are quite large and when seen together especially for your delight the sensation can be quite intoxicating. The azalea, which is equally compelling, is usually situated nearby and is somewhat smaller.

Of course the rose is the flower most associated with the English gardener. The rose has the most assertive of perfumes which were used in perfume manufacture; those heady days of sommeliers mixing natural fragrances now long gone as chemists and their anatomical fragrance charts can chemically synthesise any multitude of fragrances for any market.

The garden center at least still allows the small scale gardener to indulge his particular fancy in creating his own personal masterpiece in the back garden no matter how humble it may be. And let us not forget the plants which are the supporting act to all this blinding colour. All this pleasure and a family outing awaits at your local garden centre now ubiquitous across those damp isles.
